This is how Ali Kiba and Wizkid reacted after the MTV EMA award was snatched from Wizkid and given To Ali Kiba

Wizkid recently bagged the MTV Europe Music Awards Best African act for 2016 during the MTV EMA ceremony in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

But the problem was that he was wrongfully given the award as Ali Kiba was leading in the voting system meaning that he was the rightful owner. After major outcry from East Africans, Wizkid was stripped off the Best African Act award and it was given it to Ali Kiba in a very Steve Harvey-Miss Universe-like moment.

Following this unfortunate or fortunate incident (depending on who is looking at it) Wizkid removed all Instagram posts about the award.

Ali Kiba on the other hand wrote this after he received his rightful award:

Proudly Tanzanian

MUNGU awabariki sana. #TupoPamoja #Kajiandae #KingKiba

Translation

" I thank God and MTV for this honour. I’m very happy about this win for me and my country Tanzania and East Africa as a whole. I thank my family, management and all my fans. I love you.

I would also like to than the media, presenters, writers and everyone in the entertainment industry for supporting my work.

Lastly, I thank my fellow artistes who supported me and valued my talent for asking fan for the votes that earned me my win. My win is a win for everyone in the entertainment industry. Proudly Tanzanian. God bless you. #wearetogether"

This win proves that East Africans as a voting block are a formidable force as the last 3 MTV EMA’s have gone to East Africans.

In 2015 it was Diamond Platnumz while the 2014 winners were Sauti Sol.
