Archie comics based TV series Riverdale premiers today

It's big, it's bad and it's got a whole lot of delicious drama. The long awaited comic based TV series Riverdale has been officially launched today by international TV network, The CW.

Archie Comic releases new series Riverdale

You might wonder why the name Riverdale sounds so familiar, but if you fell in love with the Adventures of Archie,Veronica and Betty then this is a great time to be alive.

It is where your favourite characters lived. But while Archie Comics were more teen drama and comedy, The CW has opted for a dark and sexy reboot showing Archie and friends in a darker light. Scandal, death and secrets are the ingredients for what we hope will be the most creative comic series just yet.

The unexpected

It could go both ways, this may be the coolest thing to watch 2017 or a terrible trainwreck.

The story is based under the assumption that beyond the fun and happy we all know as Riverdale, there are scandals and drama behind the scenes. Such include the rumoured relationship between Archie and his teacher Miss Grundy.  We are not sure how to feel about that as she was Archie's arch enemy but if so, then it's probably going to be saucy.

Awkward, but saucy.

Behind the scenes

The Hollywood reporter states that  includes a murder-mystery that will be resolved at the end of its freshman season. In success, additional seasons will feature either a new mystery or fallout from the death of one of the characters. "A subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade."

The film comes after Archie Comics celebrated their 75th anniversary last year. In a report done by Archie Comics  we found out that the one-hour drama will be written by Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and produced by Warner Brothers Studios and Berlanti Productions . It has been described as a subversive take on the classic Archie mythos.
