4 dead, 12 injured after lorry collided with matatu at Man Easters along Mombasa Road

Four people have been confirmed dead while 12 others are nursing serious injuries following a tragic accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa Road.

The accident involved a 14-seater matatu and a truck at the Man Eaters area where it is said that the matatu rammed into the lorry head-on.

Voi Sub-county Commander Bernstein Shari confirmed the incident adding that the matatu had attempted to overtake at a corner as it was headed to Mombasa.

The officer further outlined that the matatu ended up crashing head-on with an oncoming lorry while on the wrong lane. Police have since concluded that the PSV driver is to blame for the accident.

Mr Shari highlighted that the 12 injured persons were transported to the Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi, Taita Taveta County for treatment.
