“Kimaiyo Tosha” declares Raila

Raila Odinga endorses former Inspector General of police, David Kimaiyo for the Elgeyo-Marakwet senatorial seat.

The Orange democratic leader and Cord Principal, Raila Odinga has endorsed former Inspector General of police, David Kimaiyo for the Elgeyo-Marakwet senatorial seat.

Raila who was speaking at Chesongoch, Marakwet East, urged the residents of Elgeyo-Marakwet to vote for kimaiyo noting his impressive track record while in the government.

“During our regime with former president Mwai Kibaki we realized that he had a good leadership record and that is why we proposed him for the IG post, it is unfortunate that he was later hounded from office without any solid reason” the opposition leader told the standard.

Raila went on and claimed Kimaiyo was simply a victim of witch hunt and took time to hit at the jubilee government, decrying the high level of insecurity especially on the Kerio Valley border with west pokot.

Raila announced that he will grant Kimaiyo an ODM ticket if he agrees to run using his party in the 2017 elections.

Jubilee government has in the recent past been expressing rifts and cracks in the voter rich region of Rift valley, over claims and complaints of sideling the community and therefore Raila endorsement may work in favor for Kimaiyo.

Kimaiyo will face off with the incumbent Kipchumba Murkomen.

Kimaiyo was hounded out of the office at the height of Al shabaab militia attacks in Kenya. Just two years in his four term office tenure, Kimaiyo was under immense pressure to act on the rising insecurity cases across the country.

He finally threw in the towel when 36 miners at a quarry in Mandera County were slaughtered by Al shabaab Militants in 2014.
