On Wednesday at around 1:20am another round of gunfire was heard.

At 3:00am another lot of 30 people who were holed up in the Dusit complex were rescued from the scene of the attack.

At 5:09am, 15 more people were evacuated from dusitD2. About 50 minutes after this, another loud bang was heard.

A joint security team was said to have cornered the gunmen on the 7th floor with unconfirmed reports claiming that the assailants had taken hostages.

Another loud bang was heard at around 7:10am with reports indicating that the bomb squad might have detonated bobby traps that were set by the gunmen.

Interior Ministry said authorities are "mopping up" the scene but have not given details on the fate of the attackers.

The U.S. State Department says an American citizen was among those killed Tuesday when extremists stormed a luxury hotel in the capital of Kenya.

The UN together with the US government condemned the attack on Dusit Hotel complex with the American embassy in Nairobi offering to assist Kenyan authorities flush out assailants.

Some family members say their loved ones are still trapped inside the Nairobi hotel complex even after Kenyan authorities said all buildings were secure following a deadly attack.
