Suspect's identity revealed in new development in Tob Cohen's murder case

Police have arrested Peter Karanja, the ex-husband to Gilgil Member of Parliament Martha Wangari over the gruesome murder of Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen whose body was found in an underground watertank.

Karanja who suspected to have played a role in the murder in which Cohen’s wife Sarah Wairimu has been implicated was arrested a few hours after the remains of the deceased was found.

DCI confirmed that the two suspects would be charged with the murder.

The murder continues to make headlines locally and internationally with Netherlands' leading morning newspaper De Telegraaf reporting that a secret lover to, Sarah allegedly led DCI officers to where the tycoon's body had been dumped within his Kitisuru home.

The paper reported that "The suspect in Tob Cohen case, after his arrest, pointed out where the body of the Dutchman lay,"

"The lover soon confessed that he knew more about the billionaire's disappearance and pointed investigators and Kenyan criminal intelligence service to where Cohen's body had been dumped," added the publication.

Murder plot

The Standard reports that the plot was hatched in Cohen’s house three months before his death by Cohen’s close relation who was concerned with the billionaire’s decision to severe ties with the relation.

Severing ties would come with serious consequences for the relation as it would mean a drastic change in lifestyle.

It is at this point that the relation reportedly approached an MP’s ex-husband who offered a solution to the problem at hand.

It was agreed that the problem would be handled with finality by hiring assassins.

Quoting sources familiar with the investigations, the publication reported that after a down payment of Sh40,000 was made via Mpesa to the four killers still at large, Cohen was lured to a most painful death.

“When I say it is gruesome, it is gruesome…“They took their time with him,”DCI George Kinoti confirmed.
