DP Ruto arouses mixed reactions with congratulatory message to winners of Ugenya and Embakasi South by-elections

Deputy President William Ruto’s congratulatory message to winners of Ugenya and Embakasi South by-elections has aroused mixed reactions online.

Ruto in his tweet said that David Ochieng and Julius Mawathe’s wins were God given victories and that the hustler nation had spoken, as he congratulated the two MPs elect for Ugenya and Embakasi South constituencies.

“CONGRATULATIONS Ochieng (Ugenya) & Mawathe (Embakasi) for your God given victory. Jameni wacheni MUNGU aitwe MUNGU. The hustler nation has spoken, the people have decided. GLORY TO THE ALMIGHTY GOD,” wrote the Deputy President.

Mixed feelings

His words brought out mixed feelings from Kenyans on twitter some claiming the victories were a sign that things were working in his favor.

However, others felt like this was not good enough to be used a test for 2022.

MDG’s David Ochieng beat ODM’s Chris Karan 18,730 votes to 14, 507 votes to clinch the Ugenya seat, while Wiper’s Julius Mawathe garnered 21, 628 votes against ODM’s Irshad Sumra who garnered 7, 988 votes.
