Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was on Saturday forced to climb the Kenyatta University Mortuary gate moments before the body of renowned musician John De Mathew was collected for burial.

Kabogo was among the thousands who thronged the facility demanding to see the body of the deceased, raising fears of a stampede.

In a video seen by Pulselive.co.ke, Kabogo climbed on top of the gate in a bid to calm down the crowd that was demanding to see the body of the famous musician.

A voice is heard hailing his actions and claiming that the former Governor had taken up the role of the police to control the crowd.
