Female census enumerator gang raped in Kisumu

A census enumerator is recuperating in hospital after she was gang raped on Saturday night.

The enumerator attached to Maseno, Kisumu county was accosted by a gang of men who raped her and robbed her as she returned home in the night after completing the exercise.

Nyanza police boss Dr. Vincent Makhoha confirmed the incident stating that the victim was accosted by the unknown attackers outside her gate after she had been dropped off by her supervisor following completion of the exercise.

He confirmed that a manhunt has been launched for the attackers who are believed to have hidden in a thicket near the enumerator’s gate in wait.

In the wake of the unfortunate incident, the police boss revealed that the County Statistics Department has been directed to suspend the supervisor who dropped the female victim due to negligence.

The attackers made away with the woman’s torch and power bank, leaving behind other census material.
