The government of Kenya on Tuesday sponsored a luncheon for the national team in Cairo, Eqypt following their AFCON clash with Senegal on Monday night.

President Uhuru Kenyatta included a special message for the Harambee Stars during the lunch where he was represented by Sports CS Amina Mohamed.

"You have made us so very honoured to be Kenyans as you played the champions of Africa and made a name for yourselves.

"I wish to convey warm congratulations from His Excellency the President for the great job you have done. You have fought the good fight and gained recognition. We are very proud of you," Amb. Amina stated in her address to the team.

Prize money for Harambee Stars win against Tanzania

The Sports CS also gave the national team reassurance that their request for prize money had been received.

"I have spoken to the PS as well as Chair of the Sports Fund who have assured me that they are processing your request for prize money for the game you played against Tanzania as per the CAF regulations. This had not been included in the earlier request for funds.

"I also hope FKF had made some savings even as you get ready for CHAN matches against Burundi on 27th in Nairobi and later in Bujumbura," she explained.
