Sonko asks Uhuru to help in running Nairobi County

I give up - Sonko

Governor Mike Sonko invites President Uhuru Kenyatta to take up running Nairobi county Revenue and Planning departments under National Government

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday invited President Uhuru Kenyatta's assistance with solving problems at City Hall.

Sonko, who had accompanied the President as he launched SGR Phase 2A, spoke at a public meet-and-greet admitting that he is frustrated by cartels within the nation's capital.

The Governor also highlighted two departments within his administration that have become too problematic for him, which he disclosed he is willing to hand over to the National Government.

"Naomba msaada wako Mheshimiwa Rais kupigana na cartels hapa Nairobi. Ikibidi, chukua Revenue na Planning departments ziwe kwa National Government.

"(I ask for your help, Your Excellency, in fighting cartels in Nairobi. If it has to come to it, let the Revenue and Planning departments be put under National Government)," Sonko stated.

Don't start petty politics - Uhuru to Sonko

Earlier while inviting Governor Sonko to address crowds, President Kenyatta had warned Sonko and other politicians to avoid petty politics.

"Mimi napatia hawa mic lakini wakiongea siasa duni nitawanyang’anya (I'll allow these leaders to speak but if they start petty politics I will grab the microphone from them)," the President had cautioned the politicians.
