Speaking in her Kajiado home during a prayer service Mrs Nkaissery divulged that before the death of the CS she was in their home at Bisil but a deep nudging prompted her to travel to Nairobi.
She mentioned that though she did not have a vehicle at her disposal she used a police car to travel back to her Karen home in Nairobi, where her husband would later die.
"At that time I had no car, I had to use a police car to Nairobi. When I arrived in Karen, my husband was not at home yet," she said.
The widow recounted the last moments she had with Nkaissery before he suddenly fell and died.
The mother of four stated that on the fateful night of the minister's demise she preceded to bed at around 11.30pm. Shortly afterwards her husband joined her and they prayed together before sleeping.
"He prayed as he always did and I slept. After about 20 minutes, I felt a sound as if something had knocked the side of the bed. I checked and found he has fallen off the bed," she stated.
Hellen tried to lift her husband from the floor but was unable to.
"I called the askaris who rushed into our bedroom. My back was aching from my effort to lift him up," she mentioned.
However, the General's wife noted that the despite the great loss, Nkaissery had died like a soldier.
She further assured mourners that the family was standing strong.
