Irene Nzisa Wanjigi has been sued by a Nairobi businessman, Yogesh Patel, over what he claims to be fraud worth Sh56 million.

Mr Patel claims that Nzisa and her husband Jimmy Wanjigi defrauded him of the amount through one of their dormant businesses, Aureum Limited.

The city tycoon claims that the Wanjigis and an associate Augustine Kairo Thuo had received the money as deposit for a parcel of land in Westlands, Nairobi.

He further claims that the Aureum only received the funds on behalf of Nzisa, Tyl Limited and Mr Thuo.

Patel decided to move to court after he discovered that Aureum, which claims ownership of the piece of land, had transferred ownership rights to one Cissy Kalunde Musembi.

DCI called to investigate Irene Nzisa, Tyl Limited and Kairo Thuo

Mr Patel further lodged a complaint with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) asking for a probe into the transfer of ownership.

He has claimed that the Wanjigis use the inactive company to shield themselves from prosecution.

According to the suit papers, Patel attempted to get back the deposit amount he paid but the Wanjigis refused to refund him.

He is now seeking to have the court compel the Wanjigis to admit that they did not disclose pertinent details before entering an agreement with his company, Kenroid Limited.

The respondents have been given until June 17 to respond to the case filed against them.

The High Court recently dismissed gun charges brought against the tenderpreneur ruling that the Inspector General of Police and Director of Public Prosecution had abused their office by charging him away from where the contested guns were found.

Justice Pauline Nyamweya further noted that the police and DPP seemed to be acting under compulsion from external forces.
