A keen look by Pulse Live Kenya established that the website did not exist anymore and redirected users to Jumia Deals.

Keen users of the website have also raised questions with speculations rife of the sudden exit while there remains no official communication from the company, and some contracts.

A source confided to this journalist, on condition of anonymity, that the move could be tied to the Jumia IPO on the New York Stock exchange.

It’s possible they are cleaning the house to ensure only profit making entities are listed in the group ahead of the IPO,” the source speculated.

The exit of both Jumia House Kenya and Property24 in the Kenyan market leaves behind BuyRentKenya.com as the only trusted property marketplace which connects property real estate agents and developers with buyers and sellers who ultimately transact conveniently online.

The dynamics of the Kenyan market will now change as the exit of these two companies will provide an opportunity for BuyRentKenya.com to conquer the market share across property seekers and real estate developers.

With the right strategy, BuyRentKenya.com could ultimately become the one-stop authority for things regarding real estate. A quick look at BuyRentKenya.com unveils an award-winning company with five prestigious industry accolades, most recently crowned Best Online Real Estate Marketing Platform at the Real Estate Excellence Awards. This is a clear indication of growth and the quest to establish themselves as the leading online estate agency.

In the absence of comment from Jumia, we contacted the BuyRentKenya.com CEO, Elizabeth Costabir, to share her thoughts about the industry shifts.

“The exit of Jumia House surprises us as we only see a growing market with exciting opportunities ahead. Having said that, this reaffirms our commitment more than ever to the Kenyan market. We're the best in the market, and we're here to stay,” Costabir tells this journalist.

She adds,”Ultimately, our job is to make property seekers and sellers more successful. Whatever we do, we keep our customers’ and users’ interest top of mind. Jumia House have stepped aside for us to anchor ourselves in user-centric excellence and pursue upcoming technical advancements not seen elsewhere in East Africa. Our desire to contribute to the rapid growth of the real estate market in partnership with our users and key stakeholders - is what makes today only the beginning of BuyRentKenya.com’s possibilities.”
