The attack on Hamey Police Post at 2am left four police officers injured, but the police boss has confirmed that they are out of danger.
The assailants are said to have ambushed the police post from different corners and had a heavy exchange of fire with officers based at the station.
"Four officers only got bruises. They fought hard and repulse the enemies,” Mr Kerina has said as quoted by the Nation.
Details have further emerged that the police post was alerted of impeding attack and that they were ready to attack, but could not anticipate an abduction. The state of the missing officer remains unknown.
Just last week on Thursday, five police officers were injured when suspected Al-Shabaab militants planted Improvise Explosive Devices on the road.
