4 shot dead in Nairobi

The four were armed with knives.

Multiple sources revealed that the four were cornered at Gatina area by police after they had allegedly attacked and robbed a motorcyclist with knives.

Police say the men had been linked to a series of robberies in the area that also prompted the reaction. The bodies of the four have been taken to City Mortuary, Nairobi.

In a separate incidence in robbery notorious Kayole Estate, a police officer was shot Tuesday morning by unknown hitmen and his gun confisticated.

The area, and the nearby Dandora, has been a haven of high end crime, and police in the recent past have been accused of leasing guns to goons to perform punitive raids.

It is not, however, clear whether the new, yet rare onslaught was a deal gone sour, or if it is a normal assault.
