Police issue statement after viral video showing policeman's wife being forcefully evicted

The woman in the video was being evicted by a police officer.

In a video footage which Pulselive.co.ke has seen, a woman, said to be a police officer is seen assaulting another woman, who is understood to have been required to leave the apartments, given her husband (a police officer), had abandoned duty in January and disappeared in the thickets.

The National Police Service in a statement has said that the Police constable Charles Ochieng Adao of Buruburu area deserted duty as from 12/1/2018 and an arrest warrant for his arrest was obtained of 31/1/2018 and it is still in force.

“The lady was allowed to continue staying within the Police lines to allow the closure of schools at the end of term one. She was to get an alternative residence at the end of the term.

“She claims not to know the whereabouts of her husband. The claim that the officer is sick and is hospitalized is not known to us. The family has never reported his whereabouts since January 2018 when he absented from duty.

“We are investigating the matter to establish the whereabouts of the officer and possibly have him taken to hospital for medical checkup,” the police said in a statement.

Kenyans online on Monday, after watching the footage, faulted the act, demanding an immediate action against the woman officer from Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i.
