Don’t expose your child at home - CS Mutahi warns parents hiring tutors to homeschool children

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has cautioned parents against hiring tutors to home-school their children stating that the move puts the children's lives at risk of contracting coronavirus.

Mutahi revealed that the main reason why they sent the children home was to prevent them from getting exposed to Covid-19 and it was unfortunate that parents were instead putting their lives in danger.

He said that the move showed how indiscplined Kenyans were despite the Government doing its best to prevent the spread of coronavirus that has seen the numbers rise to 25.

"The kids were sent home for protection. We are suffering from cases of indiscipline and Kenyans are exhibiting a very indiscplined behavior and this is going to cost us. When we tell people keep your kids safe we don’t mean you keep your kids safe by bringing somebody in for all you know is coronavirus positive. We are telling you to keep your kids home with you at home not exposing them to the disease and that’s why they are home in the first place" said the CS.

He called Kenyans specifically parents to be responsible and help the Government fight the disease and keep the children safe.

"It’s a grievous mistake for us to give you your child because we don’t want them exposed and then you go exposing the child at home and then afterwards you call us saying serikali saidia,it doesn’t work. This is one time where you saidia the Government doesn’t saidia because the Government cannot help each and every home and every child, we want responsibility among citizens" added the Health CS.
