Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday directed the Nairobi County Assembly to speed up the vetting process for the cabinet nominees.

Sonko stated that the MCAs should hasten the process in order for the nominees to start working.
“I want the assembly to fast track the vetting process of the five nominees so that they can start working,” remarked Sonko.
The new cabinet leaders to be grilled are: Dr Stella Bosire, (Health Services), former nominated legislator Sanjeev Birdi (Environment) and Economic Planning chief officer Winfred Kathangu (Finance) docket, while Education chief officer Lucia Mulwa will head Education department.
The immediate acting county secretary Pauline Kahiga Waititu, is set to take over the Public Service docket.
Education CEC Janet Ouko resigns from Sonko's cabinet
The reshuffle came after Janet Muthoni Ouko, who was the County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Education, decided to resign in January this year.
Ouko had stated that she quit in order to concentrate on other interests.
The CEC became the second member of Sonko's Cabinet to resign after Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe resigned in January 2018.
