Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta was born on 26th October 1961.

His father is Kenya's first president Jomo Kenyatta, who served from 1964 to 1978. He is the presidential candidate for the Jubilee Party and is seeking a re-election in the August polls. Mr Kenyatta ran unsuccessfully for president in 2002. He made a second stab on the presidency in 2007, but withdrew to support the then President Mwai Kibaki for re-election.

Uhuru’s administration has been blamed for lack of security due to successive attacks from Somalia-based militants Al-Shabaab and massive corruption that saw billions of cash misappropriated in public offices. He has, however, implemented most of 2013 campaign pledges, including the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway.  His running mate is William Samoei Ruto.
