Explosive found hidden at a construction site

A hand grenade was discovered by workers at a construction site in Isiolo.

According to the workers they found a rusty object wrapped in two plastic bags while digging through trenches.

Kenya Defence Forces said the weapon was buried there decades ago and "had been fixed for testing purposes by the army".

Explosive experts

Explosive experts from the KDF also pointed out that the grenade was not dangerous as it had a worn-out safety pin.

The workers were thanked by KDF for reporting the matter on time and allowing experts to handle the explosive.

In 2018, five Kenya Defence Forces officers died after their truck ran over an improvised explosive device in the coastal Lamu County.
