Zambia's High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba dies

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba has died, a few weeks after she was involved in a grisly road accident.

Reports reaching Pulselive.co.ke indicate that Ms. Muntemba succumbed to injuries she sustained from the Lukenya Bridge accident, along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

In February, the Zambian High Commissioner was among four diplomats in the Lukenya Bridge accident that involved multiple vehicles, after a lorry collided head on with a Toyota Prado belonging to the Zambian High Commission.

Chest and abdominal pain

Brenda Muntemba sustained chest and abdominal pains while Botswana’s ambassador to Kenya Duke Lephoko, had slight injuries on the left leg and above the knee. Joseph Guttu and Wasa Kaluwe who are also Zambian diplomats had fractures on their legs and a few bruises on their arms.

Ms. Brenda was then admitted into hospital and was operated on to stop internal bleeding before she was evacuated to a Nairobi hospital where she has been in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until her death.

The foreign envoys were heading back to the city from a meeting at Maanzoni Lodge in Machakos County when the incident occurred.
