Robbers have broken into co-operative bank and made away with Sh30 Million...

Cooperative Bank

Co-operative bank, isiolo branch, has been robbed Sh30 Million by a gang of robbers who were helped by one of the employees.

The robbers are said to have accessed the bank on Sunday evening after colluding with one of the employees who opened the door for them.

The three thieves tied other four workers who were in the bank and escaped with the money together with the employee who had helped them.

Isiolo police boss Charles Ontita confirmed the incident and divulged that incident took place after the officers who were manning the station left for their respective stations.

Mr Ontita announced that investigations into the incident had started adding that CCTV footage would be reviewed to help in the probe.

The police boss disclosed that the four workers who were at the bank had also been arrested for investigation purposes.

In November 7, 2016, suspected robbers broke into Equity Bank, Kayole Branch and stole an unknown amount of money.

The robbers gained access by drilling a hole into a wall leading to the bank's safe.

Police stated that the gang made away with an ATM machine containing money and the safe.

Detectives who investigated the robbery revealed that the thieves were helped by staffers of the bank.

The money was never recovered neither the ATM machine after it was stolen.

In the same year, impostors who claimed to be auditors made away with Sh30 Million at another Equity branch in Othaya, Nyeri County. Cases of banks being robbed have been on the increase.
