Daring thieves break into stadium meant to hold AFCON games and steal artificial turf
The stadium is meant to host the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) games.
Ongoing works at Japoma stadium, in Douala, Cameroon, which is meant to host the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) has suffered a major setback.
This is after thieves broke into the 50,000 seat stadium on Tuesday night and stole the artificial turf which was then resold on the black market.
It is not yet clear how far the robbery has set back the turkish company, Yenigün contracted to build the stadium which is 25% complete and plans to complete it by September 2018.
BBC Pidgin and Kenyan sports journalist, Carol Radull twitted a photo of the ‘first of its kind’ robbery and Netizens couldn’t keep calm.
