Seychelles has the most powerful passport in Africa.

According to the 2017 passport index which ranks world nations on the basis of the number countries where their citizens can go without requiring a visa in advance or on arrival, the African island is one of the nations in the world whose citizens can literally go anywhere they want without a lot of fuss.

Seychelles has the most powerful passport in Africa with 130 countries allowing its citizens to travel visa free with the passport.

Mauritius comes in second with 122 visa free destinations, followed by South Africa with 93, Botswana with 72, Lesotho has free entry to 70 countries, in that order making the top five countries in Africa with the most powerful passport.

Seychellois, however, don’t compare with Germans whose passport is the most powerful in the world with at least 158 countries opening its doors visa free for the European nation powerhouse.

Germany ties with Singapore followed by Sweden and South Korea (157), followed by Denmark, Finland, Italy, France Spain etc. whose citizens can travel to 156 countries visa free.

Kenya is not badly off and features among the top ten African countries with fewer travel restrictions.

Swaziland, Kenya and Malawi have the same number of countries that its passport holders can travel visa free, which currently stands at 68 countries.

Namibia passport holders can travel to 67 countries visa free while Gambia and Tanzania tie with 65 countries opening their countries visa free.

The five least powerful passports in Africa belong to Ethiopia and Eritrea with only 39 countries granting them visa free travels.

Libya follows with entry to 37 countries, Sudan 36 and Somalia with the least, with 33 countries.
