Kenya elections and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission were among Kenya's most searched terms on Google in 2017.

Also topping the list with regards to personalities were former President Mwai Kibaki, IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
"So many rumors circulated this month regarding the former President (Kibaki), which could be why he was trending. The IEBC CEO had also found favor upon the eyes of women online, which probably drove the searches,” said Google’s Communications and Public Affairs for Africa Dorothy Ooko.
'KCPE 2017 results' was also a popular search as people went online to find out how their children had performed.
“The phrase 'Tibim', morphed into a political slogan was also among the trending searches,” said Google public relations officer Dorothy Ooko.
The Nasa coalition, Jubilee party, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and the presidential results made it to the most searched trends.
"How to get pregnant', 'How to lose weight' and 'How to lose belly fat' featured in the 'How to...' list of top searches.
“Football dominated the county searches with Chelsea being the top trending team in Mombasa and Eldoret while Arsenal being the favourite in Kisumu County,” said Ms Ooko.
In the global searches, Hurricane Irma topped the list while Matt Lauer was the most trending personality.
