Kenyans in diaspora peg their prosperity on Uhuru's administration

However unlike home based Kenyans, they were only allowed to vote in the presidential election and voting was open to only citizens based on the continent.
Based on results from the Independent Election and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) website, this group backed incumbent president Kenyatta.
IEBC provisional results show that a total of 2856 Kenyans in the diaspora cast their votes in different parts of Africa of which 12 votes got rejected.

President Uhuru Kenyatta garnered a total of 1,504 votes while National Super Alliance (Nasa) flagbearer Raila Odinga got 1,321 votes.
Thirdway Alliance presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot got eight votes, Abduba Dida five, Michael Mwaura four, while Joseph Nyaga got two votes.
In South Africa, President Kenyatta got 358 votes while Mr Odinga got 302 votes.
It was a tight race in Burundi, where Mr. Odinga secured one more vote than Uhuru by getting 48 votes compared to President Kenyatta who had 47 votes.
In Tanzania, Raila led the presidential hopefuls pack by garnering 394 votes, Uhuru (393), Aukot (2), Mr Dida has 2, Michael Mwaura had one vote.

In Uganda, total vote count shows President Kenyatta got 408 votes, Mr Odinga had 322 and Mr Dida three votes.
In Rwanda, the president garnered 298 votes while the NASA flag bearer garnered 255 votes.
