Kenya's Deputy President clears the air about fall out with Uhuru Kenyatta
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s solo Cabinet announcement on Friday had many Kenyan’s worried about a possible fall out between the two leaders
DP ruto today sent out his first tweet since President Uhuru Kenyatta’s solo Cabinet announcement on Friday which had left many Kenyan’s and politicians alike speculating and worried about a possible fall out between the two leaders who jointly run the Jubilee administration.
This was because it was unlike in 2013, where he and the President paraded their Cabinet nominees in an elaborate ceremony marked by fanfare, going as far as donning similar attire depicting their cordial working relationship.
Mr Ruto’s handlers confirmed that he was in the country at the time, and even reported to work at his Harambee House Annex offices, therefore his decision not to accompany the President as he unveiled the partial Cabinet left many people to speculate about possible fall out.
Mr. Ruto has however sought to calm down Kenyan’s by urging them not to read too much on his absence.
The Deputy President is said to be unhappy with some of President Kenyatta’s choice and therefore stayed away in protest, according to sources familiar with the ongoing talks on prospective Cabinet Secretaries.
Mr Ruto is hoping to shape his 2022 bid with Cabinet appointees who will do his bidding and is therefore keen to have a say in who joins the Cabinet.
The close relationship between President Uhuru and former president Daniel arap Moi son who is also Baringo Senator, Gideon Moi has also caused some of the friction between the two leaders.
