The tourism sector at the coast received a much needed shot in the arm after Italian holiday airline, Blue Panorama resumed flights from Milan to Mombasa after a six year absence.

Blue panorama pulled out of the Milan-Mombasa route in 2011 following insecurity incidents at the Kenyan coastal region.
Kenya tourism board has welcomed the move adding it will boost tourism in the region.
The flights coming just days to Kenya’s election is another indication that Kenya’s tourism sector is on a positive recovery path and international industry players are keen to capitalize on it.

Traditionally tourists have always opted to skip Kenya during electioneering period for fear of violence resulting in tourism sector taking a hit.
The airline said they had confidence in the Kenyan destination and would continue operating flights to Mombasa despite the election fever pitch experienced in the country.
Blue panorama will operate three chattered flights a week between Milan and Mombasa.
Seaside resort cities of Malindi and Watamu which largely depend on tourism revenues are expected to reap big from the comeback.
