The Safaricom board has extended CEO Bob Collymore’s contract for two more years.

This will see him serve at the helm of Kenya’s largest mobile network operator till 2019.

His contract was due to expire in August after it was extended for another two years in May 2015.

Speaking at the release of the Safaricom Fully Year results, Chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a said the board made the decision seeing that Collymore had steered the company through difficult times.

"He has successfully navigated the company through very difficult times," Ng'ang'a said.

Collymore joined the company as CEO in August 2010 from UK’s Vodafone Mobile network.
