Governor weds in lavish ceremony, Uhuru's mother among those in attendance

Nyandarua County Governor Francis Kimemia wedded his wife in a traditional ceremony that saw him renew his vow to his wife Ann Kimemia in Nyeri County.

In an elaborate ceremony lasting six hours, Governor Kimemia and the First Lady were declared husband and wife before a multitude of family, friends and relatives drawn from the Central Region Economic Bloc and beyond.

Mama Ngina Kenyatta was present at the ceremony including Governor Ann Waiguru, Lee Kinyanjui, Ndiritu Muriithi, Hon. Peter Ndambiri, Hon. Mwangi Githiomi and members of Nyandarua's County Executive Committee.

According to Kenyans, Equity Bank and Mt. Kenya Foundation Chairman, Mr. Peter Munga who addressed the gathering congratulated the couple for its decision, noting that it was a significant contribution to the region's cultural heritage.

"There's also little doubt that Governor Kimemia is headed for a brighter future on the national scene beyond his current station," said Mr. Munga, recalling the Governor's stellar contributions to national development under both retired President Mwai Kibaki and His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta

In his remarks, Governor Kimemia urged the region's residents to continue focusing on fast-tracking development under their devolved governments.

"That's our shared concern right now. As your leaders, I assure you that we are keen to ensure devolution works for each one of you," he said.
