And the latest people to weigh in on this hot topic are Bonoko and his co-host D Bling on Ghetto Radio’s ‘Goteana’ drive show. DJ bling was of the opinion that girls should date a broke man till he becomes rich but Bonoko was of a different opinion altogether.
He was of the opinion that girls who run away from broke guys are smart and a beautiful empress dating a broke guy ni kuchafuliwa (tainting herself). In fact, to stress his opinion, he says that he can never date girls who have dated broke men and if he learns that a girl he is dating once dated a broke guy, she would be booted out for that. Yaani atatatemwa. A statement that greatly puzzled his co-host since Bonoko grew up in the streets.
“Kitambo kuna time hukukuwa na kakitu...unawakatia wanakataa,” DJ Bling said after Bonoko’s puzzling revelation (There is a time you were broke and the ladies did not want to date you ...and yet you are advocating for ladies to ditch their broke guys).

To which Bonoko replied with “Si nilikuwa navumilia, hata nilikuwa naenda kutolewa maji kwa mgongo huko Kenyatta na social worker si unajua yule dakatari husaidia machockosh..na ndio alikuwa mrembo. Alikuwa ananitoa maji kwa mgongo… na madem walikuwa...lakini ju sikuwa na kakitu…nilivumilia. Si unajua yule social worker, alinitoa maji kwa mgongo nilikuwa nimefikia siku mbili nisonge kwa baba. Juu ya kukosa jo mtu waku nitreat, kukosa keki, keki ya cluster na hazipatikani …hata msamaria mwema nikiwa pale tao.” (I endured it all because I was broke. Even when I lived in the streets and had water drawn from by back by the social worker, she was very pretty and some of the ladies at the health centre were pretty but I didn’t make a move because I had nothing. That social worker saved my life as I had two days to live before I passed away. Because I had no one to treat me and I didn’t even get some, not even from a good Samaritan)

“Siwezi.” Bonoko insisted on that despite DJ Bling’s opinion, he cannot simply date a lady who has dated a broke man.
