In a post she shared on her Instagram page, Zubeida said she was grateful to have people that cared for her as she thanked them for the birthday surprise.

“Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that there are people that love you....thank you for this birthday surprise  and for making me cry on National Television ...I love you so much...and you know I do...thank you for making me feel special and for making this day memorable...nawapenda sana,” wrote Zubeidah Koome.

In the video, the screen queen is who had just completed reading the news shed tears of joy after a cake to celebrate her birthday was brought to the studio.

The mother of two joined the Standard Group as an intern in 2007 and she has since grown up the ranks and is now a producer and a news anchor.
