Through his Twitter handle Mijungu, uploaded photos of the stolen car, requesting Kenyans to report to a nearby police station in case they spot the car or have any information that will help in the search.
“Stolen. Pls help find. Still searching. Anyone with info pls report to a police station near you” reads Mijungu’s.
Car Hire
Reports indicate that Mijungu suspected that car had been stolen after its tracking device was deactivated.
The Side-bar host runs a car hire company called “Execar-tive CarHire” that deals with luxurious rides.
Before joining NTV, Mijungu worked with CCTV Africa and Media Max Network (K24).
Despite being in the newsroom, Mijungu is a lawyer by profession.
Car theft on the rise
The 2017 Economic Survey shows that motor vehicle theft has been on the rise by 22 per cent. The data indicates that 1,355 vehicles were reported stolen in 2017 compared to the 1,111 the year before.
A recent report by the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) indicates that vehicles whose value is below Sh1 million are the most likely to be stolen. The report also points out that, out of the 406 cars reported stolen to insurers, 71 per cent were of the Toyota brand while 51 per cent were white in colour.
Ugandan Car
Just the other day (June 4th) Kenyan Police recovered a stolen car belonging to Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s aide and handed it back to him.
The car was found in Gilgil in the Rift Valley region of Kenya, bearing South Sudanese registration numbers.
