‘Shish’ speaks on the struggle she went through after leaving Tahidi High

The struggle was real.

A role that made her a household name. While it got her some coins while it lasted, Shirleen was unfortunately typecast as a one trick pony and couldn’t bag roles outside the sassy, devious Shish in the hit show.

Speaking on the struggle she went through after leaving Tahidi High, Shish told SDE that,“It was hard because I played the role of Shish for so long, people began to believe that was the only role I could play, that I could only play the bad girl role and nothing else.

It reached a point that I stopped going for some auditions, but thankfully I was able to get a role in international films that were being shot in Kenya at the time because they were not familiar with my role as Shish. It took a lot of work but finally, people in the industry began to see that I was a versatile actor. “

Aside from acting Shish is also a scriptwriter, producer and her feature film ‘Captain of Coast’ is in the pipeline.
