Earlier on, Satrin’s adoptive parents Primrose and Mike Mbuvi had taken their Instagram pages and sent some messages to the little boy who they have grown to love as their own.

“This is God’s miracle, not PR. We adopted Baby Satrine Osinya to be part of our family when he was one and a half years old after his mum was shot dead by terrorists at Joyland church in Likoni. The devil continues to be a liar and always defeated Baby Osinya is now master Osinya as today just a few minutes ago he turned 7 yrs old. As a family, we thank God for making you become a blessing to us. May you grow in wisdom and favour of God. We love you so much. Happy birthday to you,” read Governor Sonko’s post that was accompanied by a gallery of pictures.

Primrose also sent a message that read “7 years old today and totally awesome. Happy Birthday my Son @baby Satrine Osinya.”

Likoni church attack

Baby Satrine Osinya hit headlines in 2014 following a terrorist attack at the Joy in Jesus International Ministry church in Likoni, Mombasa.

The attack killed 3 worshippers among them Satrine’s mother Veronica Osinya who died while shielding her son from the flying bullets.

The bullet that killed his mother was left lodged in Satrine’s head and a picture of his brother Gift holding his bloodied brother Satrine gripped the hearts of many Kenyans.

The toddler underwent a delicate three-hour surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital to remove the bullet and thereafter the Sonko’s adopted Satrine and his brother Gift.

Gift is now a student at Lenana School while his brother attends Saint Mary’s school.
