The student known as Anne Nakhumicha collapsed ahead of her Tuesday papers after complaining that she was not feeling well. She was rushed to Mt Elgon hospital in Kitale where she passed away while being attended to.
As The Star reports, the candidate was said to have had heart complications and had been unwell for a while before she passed away from a heart attack.
Speaking on the tragic indecent the Bungoma sub-county education officer William Kamuguna said “The 18-year-old girl had done her Monday exams well despite complaining of feeling unwell. The girl has been ill for some time and is believed she has died of a heart attack.”
He then went on to console her grieving colleagues and urged them to focus on the remaining exams.
“The death of your colleague will affect you but I want to urge you to put your focus on the remaining papers.” He said.
This death comes shortly after another candidate identified as Basil Omondi from Migori Complex Secondary School collapsed outside his school’s gate and later died while undergoing treatment for acute malaria and typhoid.
