Sh100 couple goes broke

According to Wilson, the pictures were a lie. They are too broke to hold a baby shower.

With an eighth acre plot valued at half a million shillings and a Kes 320,000 greenhouse and capsicum crop in Isinya,Kajiado County life should have been great for the Muturas.

Well, this is not the case.

During an interview on edaily, the Sh100 couple announced that they just went broke. According to Wilson, the couple had to close their supermarket in Kasarani due to lack of customers and sufficient finances to run it.

He said, “My wife and I are fine, though we are struggling to make ends meet. Money is elusive, few problems here and there. We have been forced to close the shop we’d opened in May 2017 because of lack of customers and sufficient finances to run it.”

He spoke a sad story of unpaid rent, borrowed money, and unpaid bills, “I think the physical location of the shop was not strategic. There were days when evening would reach without having sold a single commodity. End month would reach without us raising the needed rent for the premises, thus forcing us to borrow money from friends and relatives to foot the accrued bills. The money we’d injected into the business was all lost. We would make constant losses. My wife and I saw it wise to sell the business and channel the money to another business, which would make little profit. Now I have resorted to selling apples. We had no other option.”

In coming baby

With their baby expected on 5th October, Wilson says he has plans to open an electronic shop when he gets the money. He went on to clarify that they have not even done a baby shower yet and that people misinterpreted the pictures circulation in the media.

“Should I get moderately good money, I would use it as capital in putting up an electronic shop. That is a trade I love doing because the items you sell are not highly perishable like those in a shop. During the shop business, we used to dispose of the rotten, spoiled and debased commodities such as flour and other food stuff.”

“I will soon throw my wife a baby shower. The party should have been held long ago, only that I did not have money. People mistook a normal photo shoot my wife and I had a baby shower. If I get money I sure will call you for a baby shower.”

Good thing Komarock Modern Hospital offered  the 100 shilling couple a free maternity package which includes, a free gynecology consultation normally 2500 per visit, free ANC profile tests worth 4K, free delivery where normal birth is usually charged 40k and Ceaserean is charged 120k and finally, free immunization as per Kepi for the baby on delivery.

Word is the capsicum green house is yet to start bringing income, however it is still in the couple’s possession. Their biggest problem however maybe the distance from farm to market for their product. However, selling capsicum is a paying job and we wish them nothing but the best.
