What’s in a name? English poet and playwright William Shakespeare thought a name did not matter much, arguing that a rose by any other name would smell just as good.
6 estates in Nairobi area with sexually explicit Kikuyu names
Githurai, Wanyee lead the list

A section of Nairobi residents appear to have borrowed from Shakespeare’s wisdom in naming some of these estates that you probably did not know their names.
Pulselive.co.ke researched on some of the controversial names given to estates – and found these six to be grossly sexually explicit in the vernacular Kikuyu language.
Githurai
Githurai is part of the Nairobi metropolitan, although technically, it's in Kiambu County.
Its name in the local Gikuyu language may confirm the old adage – give a bad name and hang it.
Githurai refers to big buttocks in the Gikuyu language – stemming from the word “ithurai” meaning the two round fleshy parts of the human body that form the bottom.
Gatina
Gatina estate lies in Nairobi’s Kawangware area. Its name is derived from the old Kikuyu reference to a woman’s private organ which is also interchangeably used in contemporary language to a small buttock.
Kinoo
This estate is also in Kiambu estate but also part of the Nairobi metropolis. It is also derived from a more vulgar reference to a woman’s private parts.
Mwiki
This estate in Kasarani constituency derives its name from the Kikuyu word used to refer to a person who enjoys or is an expert in performing carnal knowledge.
Mwana Mukia
This is one of those words you have no idea what its creators had in mind. This is a direct vulgar reference to a sexually excited child. A pervert must have named this estate in Kasarani constituency.
Wanyee
Another word that for long given decent Kikuyu speakers a hard time whenever they travel to this estate in Dagoreti.
The estate is named after the Kikuyu word for a man’s groins.
