Mr Philip Sogoti Chepsat's spread on the paper appealed to Governor Mike Sonko to hand him the job giving an assurance that he would do his best.
"I, Philip Sogoti Chepsat, a voter and resident of Nairobi, request Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko to appoint me as his deputy. I am a university graduate with over 15 years experience in public service.
"Hon Sonko, I have reached out to you openly because I am not sure if my earlier communication did reach you. I also know that you cherish openness and transparency," the ad read in part.
Sogoti went on to outline his personal attributes that made him believe that he is the best man for the job.
Murky history of Sonko and deputy governor
Governor Sonko has not appointed a new deputy governor following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe in January 2018.
Igathe explained that he had not managed to gain the trust of the governor during their short period working together.
Since then, the governor has teased Nairobians with possible appointments which included at one time lawyer Miguna Miguna.
At another instance he promised to name a DG but eventually stated that the ODM party had forwarded a last-minute candidate for his consideration.
