This African country will put you to work in a mortuary if caught drunk driving

The punishment seeks to reduce the number of drunk driving related accidents

This is according to a proposal by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) that seeks to amend the traffic laws by having drunk drivers sent to work in morgues for hours as punishment.

NTSA Director General Francis Mejja said the new proposal is aimed at reducing the number of road accidents witnessed in the country due to drunk driving.

"We cannot have notorious drunk drivers causing accidents yet when they appear in court the penalty is very lenient. Once we have the new policy ready then we shall ensure it becomes law,” said Mr.Mejja.

The announcement was welcomed by Kenyans on social media who said the new punishment would help tame rogue drivers on the road.

Some were however critical of the proposal saying that the authority ought to first deal with the issue of bribery.
