Popular Tanzanian preacher in trouble as leaked intimate video goes viral

The man of God is in trouble

Bishop Josephat Gwajima

A popular Tanzanian preacher is in hot soup after his intimate videos and photos surfaced online.

Bishop Josephat Gwajima of the Ufufuo na Uzima Ministries has been summoned to appear before authorities to explain circumstances that led to the videos leaking online.

The video in question, showing the clergy in bed making love, has raised eyebrows among members of his church with many wondering who leaked them online.

Police Boss attached to Dar es Salaam Central Police Station Lazaro Mambosasa said that they has ordered the man of God to report to nearest police station, failure to which he would be arrested.

Risk arrest

“Tayari Askofu Gwajima ameitwa Polisi kwa ajili ya kuhojiwa na ataripoti kesho Asubuhi, akichelewa atakamatwa na tumemuita sababu hakuna aliyelalamika lakini tumeona ni kitendo cha ukiukaji wa maadili, awe Askofu awe mtu wa kawaida ule ni unyama” said Mambosasa.

In Tanzania, anybody who violates the electronic laws put in place is supposed to be banned for six months, in addition to barring them from using social media or participating in any works that require social media.

The current electronic laws were introduced in January 2018 barring any Tanzanian from sharing sexually-suggestive content on the platform.

Wema's case

In October 2018 Actress Weama Sepetu also found herself on the wrong side of the law after a video surfaced online showing her in bed making love with a man she identified as her "future husband".

Following the act, Wema was banned from participating in any film-related works indefinitely with a fine of Tsh10 million.

She was also forced to issue a public apology over her indecent acts.
