Excitement as Margaret Kenyatta Speaks Luhya While Campaigning for Uhuru

The First Lady was campaigning for President Uhuru when she switched languages.

The First Lady attended the International Day of the Girl Child in Bungoma County where she also campaigned for her husband.

The highlight of the trip, however, was during the greeting session as she tried to imitate the politicians who would normally begin their speeches with a few vernacular chants to connect with the locals.

Being in Mulembe nation, Margaret had prepared a few lines of common Luhya greetings and she painfully read them with a heavy English accent to the amusement of crowd.

“Milembe swa…wow…milembe te, milembe mia," the First Lady stated as she broke out in laughter.

The video was reminiscent of a similar incident when her son, Muhoho, became the subject of an online buzz after he read out a Swahili speech while on the campaign trail in Nandi.

KTN News went to the extent of juxtaposing the experience of mother and son and clearly, there was no significant difference.

At Pulselive.co.ke, we invite them to take lessons from former US President Barack Obama, particularly in his flawless Niaje and Wagwan remarks in speeches made in Kenya and Jamaica respectively.
