Traffic along Mombasa Road to be greatly disrupted on these 2 nights

Major traffic interruption on Mombasa Road

Traffic along Mombasa Road to be disrupted on Saturday August 24 and Sunday August 25 nights for census exercise

There will be a major disruption on traffic flow along Mombasa Road on the nights of August 24 and August 25, Makueni County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed has said.

The County Commissioner outlined that disruption will be due to the 2019 Population and Housing Census exercise.

"There will be roadblocks so that even truck drivers who do transportation along the highway at night have their details captured together with other travelers," Mr Mohammed explained.

The three roadblocks that have been approved so far are at Salama, Emali and Mtito Andei.

The security boss noted that enumerators will be accompanied by police officers in some areas that are affected by human-wildlife conflict.

These areas are: Kiboko, Mikululo, Kalembe Raha, Kiu, Kaunguni and Muuni in Makindu.

Kenyans have been advised to ensure that the people they let into their homes during the exercise carry the official identification badge issued by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).

Enumerators should also have an orange or maroon reflector jacket branded with the Kenyan coat of arms on the right and the census logo on the left, as well as the 2019 census motto "Jitokeze Uhesabike".
