A suspect in the murder of Mary Wambui has confessed on the role he played in dumping the body of the diseased.
In a report by Nation, Michael Githae Mathenge a car-hire services operator who was arrested on Monday admitted that he helped the main suspect Judy Mungai to dispose Wambui’s body.
The driver led detectives to a thicket in Ruiru where together with Ms. Mungai they dumped items they used to dispose Wambui’s body which included clothes used to wrap the body and a baby seat that was in Wambui’s car.
A knife was among items recovered at the thicket in Tatu City area.
According to the report, of the evidence recovered a pressure cooker which Mungai used to hit Wambui on the head and a carpet that was spread at the backseat of her car while they went to dispose the body were still missing.
Hit on forehead
Mathenge told the police that it was Judy Mungai who hit Wambui on the forehead to death, using the pressure cooker.
He added that Ms. Mungai blackmailed him into helping her dispose of the body from her apartment at Fourways Junction Estate.
They both carried the body from the kitchen to the back of the car before they drove both cars to Mugutha where the body was discovered. On their way back, they stopped at Gitambaya between Ruiru and Kiambu where, Ms. Mungai threw away the murder weapon and beddings used to wrap the body and the baby’s seat.
The two then continued to wards Githunguri through the Kirigit-riabai Road where they threw away a blood stained carpet before proceeding to Kwa-maiko Trading Centre where they abandoned the deceased’s car.
Mary Wambui was killed in her husband Joseph Kori Karue’s mistress, Judy Wangui Mungai’s house, on Saturday January 26 under unclear circumstances.
Daily Nation reported that a post mortem report said that Ms. Wambui was hit with a blunt object nine times before being suffocated and died from a brain concussion.
