Tension in Mombasa over Joho’s certificate

Tension is high in Mombasa County after IEBC declined to give Hassan Joho...

According to the provisional results, Joho has 220,576 votes against Jubilee’s candidate Suleiman Shabhal's 69,322 votes and Hassan Omar of Wiper has 43,672 votes.

Unlike other counties where winners have already been issued with certificates, Joho is yet to be issued with his or officially declared the winner.

On Friday night just when Uhuru Kenyatta was declared President elect, Joho alleged that the electoral body had refused to issue him his certificate.

He went ahead to say that he was ready for another Election.

"If they don't want to give us the certificate, we are ready for another election,” the Mombasa Governor said.

However, on Saturday, IEBC tweeted that they had not refused to declare Joho the winner in the Mombasa gubernatorial race.
