Chaos breaks out at the Bomas of Kenya National Tallying Centre with IEBC Commissioners split over the final results of the 2022 presidential election.

Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto join religious leaders on the dais at the Bomas of Kenya National Tallying Centre, awaiting the official pronouncement of 2022 presidential election winner. Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga notably absent from the venue.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati ascends to the podium and begins to address the gathering at the Bomas of Kenya National Tallying Centre.

Chebukati: We have a constitutional duty to perform and that is why I am standing before you today. I feel proud to have been given the opportunity to serve Kenya. This of course will be the last election I preside over and I'm glad to tell those who come after that we have prepared the way for you.

William Ruto - 7,176,141 (50.49%) and 25% of votes in 39 counties

Ruto: It is a wonderful evening and I'd like to thank God that we are here to witness this momentous occasion where we witness what is said in Section 1 of the Constitution of Kenya, that all sovereign power belongs to the people of Kenya. I know that there were predictions that we wouldn't get to the ballot but because there is a God in heaven, we are here. My gratitude also goes to the millions of Kenyans who listened to us, the millions who voted for us, and the millions who have waited patiently for these results to come.
