The National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria have come out in strong defence of Deputy President William Ruto in his ensuing war of words with former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

Duale castigated the former CS saying she is not in the same league as the deputy president.

“You must give the Deputy President space. He does not play in your league, you are not in the same team,” Duale said.
He said that Waiguru had been given an opportunity by the Jubilee Government as a cabinet secretary but she squandered it by engaging in corrupt activities.
Friend turned foe
Duale had at one time been one of Waiguru’s strongest defenders.
In October last year, Duale led a group of Jubilee MPs in disowning a motion sponsored by Nandi Hills legislator, Alfred Keter, seeking to impeach the former CS over the NYS scandal.
However, Duale soon changed tune after his name was dragged into the scandal.
He went ahead to demand the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Director of Public Prosecution to seize all assets belonging to Waiguru.
Blocking presidential bid
At the same time, Gatundu South MP Moses Kiuria accused Waiguru of working to block DP Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Last week, Waiguru appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) where she named Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet and close ally Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as part of those who benefited from the NYS millions.
“You told us you were innocent. You convinced us you were a mere helpless victim. That everyone else was guilty except you. Even if that was true, how can you explain your hairdresser carrying Sh100 million in cash in bags,” posed Kuria.
He said that some politicians are paying the ultimate price for believing in her fake innocence and they were deeply hurt.
