Women aspirants leading in gubernatorial races
The women are on the verge of making history as the first female governors in Kenya.

Jubilee Party’s Anne Waigiuru is currently leading in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race with 121,796 votes representing 54 per cent of the votes counted against.
Another woman candidate, Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua is trailing Waiguru with 89, 367 votes representing 40 per cent of the votes cast with 474 out of 659 polling stations already having their votes counted.
Jubilee Party’s Dr Joyce Laboso has also taken a commanding lead against the incumbent governor, Chama Cha Mashinani’s Isaac Ruto.
Laboso has Laboso 154, 687 votes so far representing 67 per cent of the votes cast.
Ruto is trailing her having garnered 73, 746 votes representing 32 per cent of the votes cast with 641 out of the 728 polling stations having already submitting their final tallies.
In the Kitui gubernatorial race, Narc’s Charity Ngilu is in the lead with 113, 285 votes representing 48.1 per cent of the votes cast.
Senator David Musila, an independent is second with 74, 885 votes (31 per cent) while the incumbent Governor Julius Malombe of Wiper is third with 47, 340 votes (20 per cent) with 998 out of 1454 polling stations already submitting their final tallies.
