Odinga made an impromptu visit to the IEBC headquarters at Anniversary Towers on Thursday morning after which he addressed the press.
The former Prime Minister stated that he had held talks with IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati who would also meet Jubilee candidate President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday.
Odinga appeared to change his hitherto tough stand and suggested that he was willing to reconsider his participation in the repeat election if Chebukati and Kenyatta are in agreement on the issues he had raised.
“If proper consultations are done & proper reforms are carried out & those fears are addressed we will consider” the NASA leader explained.
Asked on whether he would be willing to be meet President Kenyatta for dialogue, Odinga stated that the Jubilee side had taken a hard line position that made it unlikely to hold such talks.
“You heard what Kenyatta and the so-called William Ruto said yesterday. I wouldn’t want to appear that I was begging to meet with President Kenyatta because I want their poisoned nusu mkate,” the NASA leader stated.
Odinga’s meeting with Chebukati came after a planned joint meeting between the IEBC Chairman and the presidential candidates was cancelled.
The meeting had been scheduled for Thursday afternoon and no explanation was given for its cancellation.
